The Edwardians: Age of Elegance (King’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace)
17 October 2025 11:45am
11.45am for 12pm: : Buckingham Palace (entrance opposite Buckingham Gate)
Members may remember the excellent talk given in November by our member Mr David Wheeler (Senior Decorative Arts Conservator, The Royal Collection) and the subsequent article in Anglo-Norse Review about gifts exchanged between the Royal Houses of Great Britain and Norway since 1905.
This acclaimed exhibition of more than 300 objects at the King’s Gallery features several referred to by David and includes works by Carl Fabergé, Frederic Leighton, Rosa Bonheur, John Singer Sargent and William Morris and explores the opulence and glamour of the Edwardian age from 1863 (the wedding of Edward and Alexandra) until 1918 (the end of the First World War). Following the visit, there is an option to walk to nearby ScandiKitchen Café & Shop on Buckingham Palace Road for lunch.
Cost: £17 per member. Non-members/guests of individual members: £19
